Since January 2024, employers have been obliged to electronically retrieve information on the incapacity for work of their employees with statutory health insurance from the health insurance funds. This means that employees are no longer required to submit a corresponding certificate. They only need to report sick to their employer.
However, this regulation does not apply to recipients of citizen's allowance. The job centres do not yet have the technical means to retrieve the certificates of incapacity for work digitally from the health insurance funds.
Beneficiaries are therefore obliged to continue to submit the sick note in paper form - the "yellow slip" - to the Salzlandkreis Job Centre in the event of illness or incapacity to work.
Customers of the Jobcentre are requested to actively request a paper sick note from their doctor to submit to the Jobcentre in the event of illness. The doctor's surgery will continue to issue the certificate of incapacity for work free of charge.
