Schönebeck/SLK. The Salzland Museum is ready for a rush of visitors. This Saturday evening, the cultural institution, together with its Friends’ Association, is once again hosting the popular Museum Night.
"Drawn from the full..." could apply to the programme, but it is the title of the art exhibition in the house, which opens this evening. From 14 March to 21 June, a wide variety of works by the Schöpfrad studio community will be on display, some of which have been created especially for this special exhibition: Works of art with motifs from the Salzland Museum, the spa gardens or the Gertrauden cemetery in Bad-Salzelmen, for example. And enthusiasts will have the chance to purchase them.
The new special exhibition offers a wide variety of art and handicrafts, works on paper, acrylic and oil paints on canvas, bog lye, Advocado ink, graphics, watercolours and objects made of wood, soapstone, alabaster, clay, porcelain, felt and macramé. They were made by members of the Schöpfrad studio community in Aschersleben. The association has been in existence since 1994 and the 25 or so members, young and old, meet weekly in an old fulling mill, the Wassertor mill in Aschersleben, to engage in artistic and practical activities, which explains the name of the association. The studio community and projects, workshops, courses, public events and exhibitions have only been possible together for over 30 years.
A number of other local artists and traders will also be presenting their creative works and goods on Museum Night. The theatre landscape association performs "Till Eulenspiegel" twice. The chairman of the Staßfurt Miners' Association, Gerald Meyer, will give a lecture on the subject of salt and Staßfurt as the cradle of potash mining. Musician Thomas Augustin will provide musical entertainment and food and drink will be provided by the Salzland Museum Friends' Association.
