Bernburg/Plötzkau. The so-called Plötzkau road junction on the L65 between Bründel and Aderstedt is to be made safer. The responsible State Road Construction Authority (LSBB) of Saxony-Anhalt, Western Regional Division, has agreed to build a roundabout at the junction with County Road 2106 between Plötzkau and Osmarsleben. A corresponding agreement with the Salzlandkreis was signed a few days ago by District Administrator Markus Bauer and Regional Division Manager Michael Schanz.
"We want people in our country to be able to use all forms of mobility independently and, above all, safely - whether by bus and train, on foot, by bike or by car. To achieve this, we need efficient and, above all, safe roads. The high level of investment in the expansion of the Chausseehaus intersection is a living example of how we can make mobility safer and at the same time fit for the future," said Transport Minister Dr Lydia Hüskens after signing the agreement.
Markus Bauer explained: "Thanks to the planned roundabout, the risk at this junction will be significantly reduced. With this project, we are further harmonising the areas of housing, business and science in the Salzland district." He thanked Transport Minister Dr Lydia Hüskens for the state's support. The LSBB is responsible for planning, tendering, awarding, construction supervision and contract fulfilment. The District Administrator also thanked Stefan Ruland, Member of the State Parliament, for his commitment to the project.
In recent years, there had been a number of traffic accidents at the junction, some of them serious. For this reason, the state road construction authority initially installed a temporary semi-stationary traffic light system. Meanwhile, District Administrator Markus Bauer, Member of Parliament Stefan Ruland and Plötzkau Mayor Peter Rosenhagen campaigned for a sustainable and even safer solution. This is now foreseeable with the signing of the agreement.
Stefan Ruland says that the imminent start of construction impressively demonstrates what is possible when the responsible political players at municipal, district and state level work together and stay on the ball. "We are ensuring significantly more safety at this point." Peter Rosenhagen is grateful: "Thanks to the cooperation of everyone involved, we have now really made a difference for the people in the region."
Construction work is due to start in the summer. The costs are expected to be around one and a half million euros. Both contractual partners will each pay half of this amount. During the approximately one-year construction period, traffic will be routed via a bypass in the immediate vicinity of the junction. According to the LSBB, preparations for the start of construction are already underway. The only outstanding issue is the land, which needs to be clarified with the neighbouring residents. Work can only begin once planning permission has been granted.
