Promotion of youth work measures
Youth work is regulated by law in Section 11 SGB VIII Child and Youth Welfare.
The main aim of youth work programmes is to promote the development of young people through programmes that are based on their interests and are co-determined and co-designed by them. Youth work is a field of social learning in which young people are empowered to self-determination and are encouraged and guided towards social responsibility and social commitment. The accessibility and usability of the programmes should be ensured for young people with disabilities.
The focal points of youth work include
- extracurricular youth education with general, political, social, health, cultural, natural history and technical education
- youth work in sports, games and socialising,
- work-related, school-related and family-related youth work,
- international youth work,
- children's and youth recreation and
- youth counselling.
Youth work providers are youth associations, groups and initiatives, other youth work organisations and public youth welfare organisations. Youth work includes programmes for members, open youth work and community-oriented programmes.

Youth organisation work
Youth association work is regulated by law in Section 12 SGB VIII Child and Youth Welfare.
According to para. 2, youth work in youth associations and youth groups is organised by young people themselves, jointly shaped and co-responsible. Their work is designed to be long-term and is generally aimed at their own members, but it can also be aimed at young people who are not members. Youth organisations and their associations express and represent the concerns and interests of young people.
In the Salzland district, the associations Kreisjugendfeuerwehr Salzlandkreis im Kreisfeuerwehrverband Salzlandkreis e.V. and Kreissportjugend Salzland im Kreisportbund Salzland e.V. are supported.

Youth social work
Die Jugendsozialarbeit (JSA) ist ein Leistungsangebot der Kinder- und Jugendhilfe, bietet jungen Menschen Unterstützung in Schule, Ausbildung sowie Alltag und begleitet sie dabei, ihren Platz in der Gesellschaft zu finden, besonders wenn sie benachteiligt oder in schwierigen Lebenslagen sind.
Ziel ist es, die Selbstständigkeit, soziale Kompetenzen und Zukunftschancen der Jugendlichen zu stärken sowie geeignete (schulische/berufliche) Perspektiven zu erarbeiten.
Die Jugendsozialarbeit richtet den Fokus neben der schulischen/beruflichen Integration, auch auf die persönliche und individuelle Entwicklung junger Menschen. Sie ist an der Schnittstelle von Schule, familiärem Umfeld, Freizeitangeboten und beruflicher Orientierung tätig.

In Zusammenarbeit mit Trägern der öffentlichen Kinder- und Jugendhilfe im Salzlandkreis werden in vier Sozialräumen Lernortverlagerungen als alternative Beschulungsform vorgehalten.

Juleica training at the Salzlandkreis
Youth leader card (Juleica)
The specialist youth and family service of the Salzland district offers youth leader card training courses in cooperation with the district adult education centre. These courses use a variety of practical methods to teach the basic content that is essential for providing educational support to children and young people. Nine modules must be completed in order to apply for the card. If you have already acquired a JuleiCa and would just like to extend it, you can put together a selection of individual modules yourself. A total of 12 hours of follow-up training must be demonstrated in order to extend the card.
The Youth Leader Card (Juleica) is the standardised national ID card for volunteers in youth work. It serves to legitimise the holder and as proof of qualification. In addition, the Juleica is also intended to express social recognition for voluntary work.
