Economic youth welfare
The Economic Youth Welfare team is responsible for the financial processing of child and youth welfare services in accordance with SGB VIII.
We check cost reimbursement claims against other service providers as well as cost sharing by parents and ensure the legally compliant payment and billing of services. As a result, the entire financial implementation of youth welfare services is the responsibility of the Economic Youth Welfare Department.
We work closely with the General Social Service, the Foster Children's Service, independent organisations and other specialist agencies. Our aim is to provide financial security for young people and those entitled to benefits and to guarantee needs-based support within the framework of the legal requirements.
The needs-based support mainly relates to the maintenance to be paid and medical assistance for the young person. In addition, one-off grants and subsidies can also be applied for (see forms).

Child and youth welfare services
The services include in particular
- Social group work (Section 29 SGB VIII)
- Educational assistant, care assistant (Section 30 of Book VIII of the Social Code)
- Social-educational family assistance (Section 31 of Book VIII of the Social Code)
- Education in a day care group (Section 32 SGB VIII)
- Full-time care (Section 33 of Book VIII of the Social Code)
- Residential care or other forms of supervised accommodation (Section 34 SGB VIII)
- Intensive individual educational support (Section 35 of Book VIII of the Social Code)
- Assistance for mentally disabled children and adolescents (Section 35 SGB VIII),
- Assistance for young adults (Section 41 of Book VIII of the Social Code) and
- shared living arrangements for mothers or fathers and children (Section 19 of Book VIII of the Social Code).
If services are provided in facilities outside the parental home or day and night services are provided outside the parental home, the parents are generally required to pay a cost contribution from income in accordance with §§ 91 ff. SGB VIII, parents are generally required to contribute to the costs from their income. In the latter case, a cost contribution in the amount of the child benefit must also be paid to the Youth and Family Department.
