According to the statutory regulations, the seasonal period must be at least two months. A maximum of eleven months is permitted. Outside of this period, the vehicle may not be used on public roads or parked on public roads. Proof of valid third-party liability insurance must also be submitted to the registration authority outside the seasonal period.

With effect from 1 July 2012, it is possible to apply for a so-called interchangeable number plate for two vehicles.

The following requirements must be met:

• Vehicles correspond to the same vehicle class (vehicle type - see below)
• Allocation only possible for cars, motorhomes, motorbikes and trailers up to 750 kg gross vehicle weight
• Both vehicles have the same licence plate dimensions
• Interchangeable licence plates can also be applied for historic vehicles (H licence plates) of the same type
• Interchangeable licence plates as seasonal, red, short-term or export licence plates are not permitted.
• Not all licence plate services in the Salzlandkreis produce interchangeable number plates. Please find out in advance which licence plate service will produce the interchangeable number plates.

Registration certificate part I (vehicle registration document)

Für die Beantragung (nur durch den Fahrzeughalter oder Erwerber) einer neuen Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil I (Fahrzeugschein) als Ersatz für die in Verlust geratene Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil I (Fahrzeugschein) muss der Halter eine Versicherung an Eides Statt abgeben.
Dies kann in der Zulassungsbehörde oder bei einem Notar erfolgen.
Soll das Fahrzeug außerhalb des Salzlandkreises zugelassen werden, erstellt die Zulassungsbehörde eine Unbedenklichkeitsbescheinigung.

Registration certificate part II (vehicle registration document)

Für die Beantragung (nur durch den Fahrzeughalter oder Erwerber) einer neuen Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil II (Fahrzeugbrief), als Ersatz für eine in Verlust geratene Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil II (Fahrzeugbrief) muss der Halter eine Versicherung an Eides Statt abgeben. Dies kann in der Zulassungsbehörde oder bei einem Notar erfolgen. Nach erfolglosem Ablauf der Aufbietungsfrist (ca. 14 Tage) beim Kraftfahrtbundesamt in Flensburg kann die neue Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil II (Fahrzeugbrief) ausgestellt und ausgehändigt werden.

If the vehicle is to be registered outside the Salzland district, the registration authority will issue a clearance certificate with the technical data. This serves the new registration authority as the basis for issuing the new registration certificate part II (vehicle registration document) as part of the transfer or decommissioning.
