Main tasks
In the area of fire protection, a distinction is made between preventive fire protection and defensive fire protection.
Preventive fire protection covers all measures to prevent the outbreak and spread of fire as well as education on fire safety behaviour.
Fire prevention includes all measures to combat hazards to people, animals, property and the environment caused by fires and accidents.
Other focal points in this area are district training and the Fire Service Technical Centre (FTZ).

- Checking the performance of fire pumps in accordance with the standard
- Repair of all types of fire pumps

Training and further education
- Supervision of the actions of municipalities and fire services in coordination with risk analyses
- Monitoring compliance with the training content in accordance with fire service regulations for the training and further training of members of the volunteer fire brigades in the Salzland district
- Audits of fire service statutes
- Examination of the admission requirements for participation in training courses at district level
- Coordination, organisation and implementation of basic, advanced and further training for firefighters
- Preparation of statistics
- Organisation of training courses for volunteer fire brigades at state and district level as well as units for special operations in accordance with the BrSchG
