The joint proposal resulted in the 2026 Romanesque Prize for Rüdiger Kempe. He is a stonemason, parish councillor and member of the Friends and Patrons of the Collegiate Church of St Cyriakus in Frose. With passion and expertise, he has made a significant contribution to the preservation and maintenance of the Romanesque monument for over 30 years, an important part of the Romanesque Route - a valuable attraction and cultural identity for Frose, the town of Seeland and the region for generations.
The recent winner of the Saxony-Anhalt Romanesque Prize collected donations and secured funding, for example to secure the statics of the Westwerk or to make the historic bells ring again. He also provided expert support during the realisation of the projects.
This extraordinary commitment prompted the district administration and the Salzlandkreis Tourism Association, together with the town of Seeland, to nominate Rüdiger Kempe for this year's Romanesque Prize at the Saxony-Anhalt Tourism Association. The outcome is known. Congratulations and many thanks from the Salzland district! Because: consequently, the next Romanesque award ceremony in 2027 will take place here, in the collegiate church in Fros.
