If you are looking to buy a home, build a new one or carry out modernisation work, there are various government support schemes available to you:
Refurbishment of vacant residential properties
As a property owner, you may be eligible for a grant towards the modernisation and refurbishment of vacant or partially vacant residential buildings in Saxony-Anhalt. The grant amounts to 50 per cent of the eligible expenditure, up to a maximum of 10,000 EUR per residential unit.
Funding is primarily available for:
- Repair and modernisation
- Changes to the layout of the flat
- The rectification of structural defects
- Noise protection
- Thermal insulation
- Accessibility
These subsidised flats are subject to rent and occupancy restrictions.
Range of lifts
If you wish to have your home converted to make it accessible, you may be eligible for a grant towards certain measures. The grant amounts to 50 per cent of the eligible costs, up to a maximum of 10,000 EUR per dwelling. Eligible measures include, for example,
- Retrofitting or upgrading lift systems
- Installation of stairlifts
Home modernisation
If you are the owner of residential properties, you may be eligible for a low-interest loan to modernise your home. The residential buildings are to be refurbished with a focus on age-appropriate living (multi-generational living and accessibility) and climate protection. In addition to owner-occupied and let residential buildings, buildings that have not previously been used for residential purposes are also eligible for funding.
Home ownership
You can also obtain a low-interest loan of up to 65,000 EUR for the construction or purchase of a home. To be eligible, you must consist of at least two household members, and your income must not exceed the income limit set out in the Housing Promotion Act by more than 80 per cent.
