If you wish to go fishing, you will need a fishing licence. To obtain this, you must pass the fishing exam. The dates for the fishing exams are set by the relevant fisheries authorities. The exam is held at least once a year. As a rule, there are two exams a year and places are limited.
The fishing licence exam comprises 15 questions each from the subject areas of hydrology, ichthyology, fishing equipment and fisheries law, making a total of 60 questions, of which you must answer at least 75 per cent correctly within 2 hours.
Children aged 8 and over, and members of the public who wish to engage solely in recreational fishing, have the option of taking a recreational fishing test under simplified conditions, in the form of an oral examination. These tests are administered by numerous angling clubs. The dates for the examinations are also announced via the online application.

If you wish to fish in a particular body of water, you will also need a fishing permit, also known as a fishing licence. You can obtain this from the owner of the body of water or from the person who has leased the fishing rights.
