Whether it’s the Romanesque Route, the Blue Ribbon, Garden Dreams, UNESCO World Heritage Sites or, more recently, the Sky Trails (the ‘Sky Disc’ found at Nebra) – tourism in Saxony-Anhalt focuses on rewarding destinations and fascinating themes.

Saxony-Anhalt is the birthplace of Martin Luther and a land of magnificent half-timbered towns, Romanesque castles, churches, palaces and monasteries, all of which bear witness to the region’s important role in the Middle Ages. In addition, there are charming little villages everywhere, with their narrow streets and typical half-timbered architecture that faces away from the street, as well as village churches, all nestled within an unspoilt, diverse landscape ranging from lowlands through heathland and low mountain ranges to wine-growing regions.

Saxony-Anhalt is the federal state with the highest density of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Germany: the Bauhaus in Dessau, the Luther cities of Wittenberg and Eisleben, the Wörlitz Palace Park and the old town of Quedlinburg.
