Service description
You must inform the housing benefit authority immediately if there are any changes that are not only temporary.
- the total income of all household members increases by more than 15 per cent,
- your rent or your burden in the case of residential property without heating costs is reduced by more than 15 per cent or
- the number of household members is reduced because they
- no longer belong to the household
- can no longer be taken into account for housing benefit.
If the changes are retroactive or become known retroactively, your entitlement to housing benefit will also be reduced retroactively.
Procedure
- You send your notification of change in writing or online to the housing benefit office responsible for you.
- The authority will check whether your notification has an effect on the amount of your housing benefit and will send you a notification if necessary.

You are obliged to provide all information truthfully. The housing benefit authority is authorised to check your details by comparing your data. The verification of your details is permitted up to 10 years after receipt of the housing benefit notice.
