Successful at the national final in Berlin!

Our school team did it: with great dedication, the para-athletes from the "Am Park" special school in Wolmirsleben fought their way to an impressive 5th place in the overall standings at the national finals of "Youth Training for the Olympics & Paralympics" in Berlin. Devin Wagner (
U17, 1697 points), Sean Sander (U20, 1689 points) and Shania Mergel (U14, 1650 points) were particularly impressive, their performances making them some of the most successful athletes on the team. Many personal bests, exciting competitions at the Mommsenstadion and an unforgettable closing ceremony at the Max-Schmeling-Halle made the days in Berlin a special experience.
In addition to the sporting highlights, our students also discovered the capital: the Brandenburg Gate, the TV tower, the Neptune Fountain, a visit to the theatre, pizza and fun at the Illuseum were all on the programme.
On Friday, the athletes received a warm welcome at our school. Headmistress Ms Krug praised their achievements in front of the entire school community: "We are proud of the achievements of each individual athlete and would like to thank the accompanying teachers for their work."

Our team took third place in the state finals of "Jugend trainiert" and received the bronze medal.

At this year's sports festival, the pupils showed what they are made of. They competed with joy and ambition in the various disciplines, such as the long jump and snake run.

Today, the pupils and colleagues of our school performed the "Carnival of the Animals" together. In addition to many guests, Mr Kiel from the Volksstimme newspaper was also present and published the following article afterwards:

At the opening of this year's School Step Challenge, pupils and teachers got moving together and collected their first steps. The challenge runs until 28 May. Our aim is to collect as many steps as possible together.

The school football team came 2nd in the regional finals of "Jugend trainiert". They thus qualified for the state final on 3 June in Haldensleben.

Our school swimming team successfully took part in the state finals of "Jugend trainiert" in Dessau and came 4th.

On the second day of our project week, we were visited by the Mitteldeutsche Kammerphilharmonie. They played excerpts from the suite "Carnival of the Animals" by the composer Camille Saint-Saëns.

Pupils and adults were equally enthusiastic.

This school year also saw the traditional internal "Ball over the String Tournament" take place.

All classes took part with enthusiasm and endeavoured to win one of the coveted challenge cups.

The winners of each class level can now keep it in their classroom for a year.

On 11 November, we hosted the school football team from the "Kastanienschule" school in Aschersleben and the school football team from the "Karl-Friedrich-Wilhelm Wander" special school.

The teams competed against each other in exciting and very fair football matches.

It was a great day!
