The Salzland district is one of 104 districts and independent cities that operate a job centre under municipal sponsorship. At the end of 2018, the German Association of Counties and the German Association of Cities, together with the municipal job centres, launched a nationwide campaign entitled "Stark. Social. Local." to draw attention to the strengths of municipal job centres and the importance of decentralised labour market policy.
