Auctioning food and perishable goods in the trade fair, exhibition and market sector
Service description
If you want to auction goods commercially, you need a so-called auctioneer's licence. This is subject to special requirements.
If the products to be auctioned are foodstuffs and other perishable goods and you wish to auction them in the trade fair, exhibition and market sector, you can apply for an exemption.
Perishable goods quickly lose quality. These include, for example
- fresh fruit
- Vegetables
- Fish and meat
- Dairy products
- Flowers and plants
If the food and goods would spoil or lose quality without the auction, the competent authority may grant you an exemption from the auctioning licence.
The exemption relates to:
- Speciality and funfairs
- Weekly markets
- Wholesale markets
- Trade fairs
- Exhibitions
