Protection of prostitutes
The Prostitutes Protection Act came into force on 1 July 2017. The law aims to strengthen prostitutes' right to sexual self-determination, create acceptable working conditions, reduce the dangers and risks of prostitution and combat human trafficking, violence and exploitation. The core elements are the introduction of a registration requirement for prostitutes and a licence requirement for prostitution business operators.
The Department of Public Order and Road Traffic, General Regulatory Affairs is responsible for
- Conducting the information and counselling interview
- Creation of registration certificate for prostitutes
- Authorisation to operate a prostitution business
- Granting of a prostitution licence for a prostitution business
- Licensing of a prostitution event
The Health Service is responsible for health advice.
